To Be or Not to Be is a silly, if not wacky, "choose your own adventure" style book that is easy to pick up in sort bursts. It has over 100 endings so your goal will likely be to uncover as many of those as possible at whatever pace you want.The writing is simple, modern and very casual. To the point of being (intentionally) absurd at certain (normally) key moments. You wouldn't expect a ghost in a Shakespearean story to greet a surprised person with "Sup". The playful dialog is makes for some chuckles but also allows you to move through the work very quickly.The story is just as lively as the dialog, taking you unexpected places that you wouldn't have predicted. It is probably most entertaining when the paths are truly off-course, however the paths that follow the original story more closely are still engaging and fresh.You don't need to pay attention to intricate plot details and you can focus on remembering which paths you have taken, so you can run through the book to see the different outcomes. Some endings come within a few choices, finishing your story after just a handful of pages.I read this via the kindle app and the "back" feature that returns you to the last decision you made was very useful. It wasn't as good as having several bookmarks tucked inside a choose your own adventure book, but it was much easier to carry around.Because the reading is very easy I was able to get in random bits of progress, sometimes completing one path of the experience, while reading the book on my smartphone while waiting on a line at the store. So for a few days when I had some downtime I would make progress on this book instead of reading the news on my phone.I never really dedicated time to read this formally, it isn't that compelling. That isn't a serious knock on the product, I enjoyed reading it as I did. I appreciated it in sort bursts and I think it is perfect for that. Some of the paths are pretty memorable and outlandish while others serve their purpose and provide a comical take on a tale many are familiar with.I'd say it's worth reading if are interested in pursuing a bunch of different paths to see all the different stories within. There are complete side stories you wouldn't ever know existed unless you really branch out and play though many choices. That is the strength of this work, even after 30 or so endings, you'll continue to find treasures if you keep hunting.
